Jack's Story
“...he never stopped smiling, he never gave up...”

Prince of Wales and the plaque

“Parmi” (Wednesday) night at the POW was a weekly tradition for Jack and his mates. As per Dianne’s suggestion, I had a plaque made to immortalise and enshrine that memory permanently and the good people at the POW allowed me to have the plaque inlaid in an outside table that Jack would frequent when parmi night was in full swing. The POW is in Battery Point, Hobart.

These Wednesday night’s became an increasing focus for Jack the sicker he got and as he struggled with his failing health. We had a little ceremony on 26 June 2019 to acknowledge the plaque and significance of the Wednesday night in the latter, and fragile, part of Jack’s short life. Many of Jack’s parmi tragics, family and family friends ate a parmi and enjoyed a shout in Jack’s name. He would have been chuffed.
